BITE Beauty The Lip Pencil

As a member of Influenster, I received a complimentary VoxBox this late January for testing/reviewing. The box was in collaboration with Bite Beauty and their new cosmetic product launch: The Lip Pencil. The box included a small card that provided a brief introduction to the products. Also included in the box were 5 items:

  1. Sephora Collection Eco Biodegradable Sharpener (retails for CAD $7.50)
  2. The Lip Pencil in 020 – beige nude (retails for CAD $20)
  3. The Lip Pencil in 044 – rich mahogany (retails for CAD $20)
  4. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb – beige nude (sample size; full size retails for CAD $30)
  5. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey – rich mahogany with red (sample size; full size retails for CAD $30)

I love that although this was a @Influenster x @BiteBeauty VoxBox, the Sephora Collection sharpener was included. The sharpener is versatile in that it can sharpen various sizes of cosmetic pencils. Something unique about the sharpener is the pick included to help get rid of any product stuck in the sharpener. This keeps your sharpener clean and bacteria free.

The lip products provided by Bite Beauty are gorgeous shades of neutrals that will suit any complexion. You have the option to wear a darker lip or a lighter lip, but both lips will look good with almost any outfit and are trendy for the current winter. The lip pencils and lipsticks match each other quite well.

The Lip Pencil

The plastic packaging surrounding the lip pencils is very tough to remove (I was scared I may break a nail); however, the actual product does not disappoint. The pencils come sharpened to a very pointy tip. The product is creamy and pigmented. When applying this onto my lips (and hands for swatches) I noticed that if I did not use a light hand, the product would crumble. A little bit of the product goes a long way, so you do not have to go back and forth to increase pigmentation (see my hand swatches). If you’re looking for lip pencils that are creamy, moisturising, and highly pigmented, these are worth the price!

Amuse Bouche Lipstick

The lipsticks come in a uniquely shaped lipstick tube that is matte black. Similar to the lip pencils, the lipsticks are also creamy, moisturising, and pigmented. My lips felt soft and moisturised even after I removed the product with a tissue. I have very dry lips so this was a pleasant surprise. I did not have to apply lip balm afterwards. I did notice that the lipsticks were hard to remove with a water-based cleanser, and the darker shade left behind a messy stain. However, if you use a small amount of oil instead to remove the product, there is no stain left behind. Although the price tag on these is a little higher, if you’re looking for a good high-end lipstick, these are a must!

Swatches

Below are my hand swatches of the products. The picture on the left are swatches of Whiskey and 044. The top swatch is 3 swipes of Whiskey, while the one below it is one swipe. The next swatch is 3 swipes of 044 and the bottom one is one swipe. The picture on the right has swatches of Honeycomb and 020. The top and bottom swatches are 3 swipes of both products, while the middle swatches are single swipes. As you can see, the colour pay off is pretty good and buildable. The lip pencil colours also match the lipstick colours perfectly.

Overall?

In my opinion, I would give these products a 5/5 for function and formula. For cost, I will give them a 4/5. I do think they are a bit pricey, but they’re worth splurging on if you want such high-end lip products. I do see myself purchasing these products in the near future once I run out and maybe even trying other colours!
